Thank you for visiting our website. My name is Randy White. I have been in the accessibility business since 1979 when, after college, my brother Doug offered me my 1st job at The Whitaker Company in Yonkers, NY. I began as a technician installing and servicing lifts, I worked my way to residential and commercial sales. Whitaker became the largest installer of stair lifts in the USA with 6 locations. In 1992, I left Whitaker to work with Handi-Lift, Inc in Wyckoff, NJ. It was during my transition to Handi-Lift that I met my wife, Nancy. Nancy worked in sales too. She saw my passion for the industry and encouraged me to take a leap of faith and open my own company.
In 1994, after negotiating with my employer, Nancy and I opened Handi-Lift Residential, Inc. We serviced NY, including the 5 boroughs of NY City, Long Island, all of NJ and CT. By 2005 our company had grown steadily, and we were working non-stop. We were blessed with 2 children and had an extremely full life. As successful as our company was, we realized we wanted a better quality of life. After careful consideration, we made the life changing decision to move to North Carolina. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. We began Ride The Stairs here in Mooresville, NC. We are blessed to work with our 2 adult children who are an integral part of our company. Brandon works in our Mooresville NC location while Madison runs our Wilmington, NC location. After attending UNCW she decided to make that her permanent home. When you call us, you will be speaking with an owner at all times. We love what we do and enjoy sharing the gift of independence with those in need of a solution.

- Developed relationships with the owners, the engineers, and the every day workers at each manufacturing company.
- Been hands on with the equipment, service and even the design on new products.
- Regularly attend shows and work shops in our industry and am involved in the NAEC, our industry’s association.
